Brian played junior hockey with the Kitchener Rangers and led them to a Memorial Cup championship in 1981. In 1982 he entered the NHL after being drafted second overall by the Minnesota North Stars. In his second year, he was named the North Stars’ captain, becoming one of the youngest players in league history to assume leadership duties. He was also a member of the 1993 Stanley Cup-winning Montreal Canadiens. Brian Bellows scored his 1,000th career point, against Toronto, on January 2, 1999, thus becoming the 54th player in the NHL to reach this career milestone.
